they're super cute =) and it's nice to have something xmasie in my cubicle. it'd be a waste for it to be the holidays and yet not have any holiday cheer around.
well, now i can actually add some of the stuff i've imported from japan to my video list. thank you vox!! =)
so i did, basically just 'cause i could. lol. i imported these three dvd sets a couple months ago. love 'em, couldn't live without them. the yakin byoutou boxes were especially limited. i think they only made 1,000 of each.
yakin byoutou was released in america, under the title "night shift nurses." it's a pretty accurate translation. they got a pretty crappy released, though. the first dvd got censored the hell out of, then when people got really pissed a18 put the cut scenes on the second dvd. no, they didn't go back and fix the first dvd. they put the scenes they cut out on the second dvd like a bonus extra. idiots. they should've just re-released the first dvd and actually fixed their mistake.
i like their uniforms, too. when i bought my japanese nurse costume, i made sure that it specifically looked like the ones in yakin byoutou.
the other box i imported was the kisaku box. i love all of those series: isaku, shusaku, kisaku. they're just awesome. there's a shusaku box out, too, but it was released a long time ago. so far i've been unable to get ahold of it. i keep looking, though.
the kisaku box contains all the episodes on both dvd and umd. it also came with an art book. very awesome.
i am a collector. i am insane and it's an addiction. but i'm okay with that.
so, halloween's almost here. i decided to populate my desk at work with a bit more themed plushies. i still have my pink puppy here, but now it has some friends with it. there's a little witch kitty ("whitey" - it's a joke referencing the movie the worst witch) and a ghost ("boo"). i never keep the names that come on the ty tag, because they usually sound stupid. i can make my own stupid names, thankyouverymuch. lol.
what TV show(s) will you be watching this season? why?
battlestar galactica. why? why wouldn't i?
i just finished watching season 2 last night (finally). now i'm watching the webisodes. god baltar's such a moron. as are all the colonists. but it's just amazing how baltar keeps screwing everyone over time and again. genius my ass.
most shows i wait till they come out on dvd to watch. like nip/tuck and rescue me. rescue me is so awesome.
jerry: my son's coming to visit-
new mike: your gay son?
jerry: was that completely necessary? when people ask about you do i say, "the retarded probie"?
~ rescue me
i've missed seasons of a lot of the shows i like, though (24, nip/tuck, rescue me, the shield). the only reason battlestar galactica wins out is because i've actually seen all of it so far. also, starbuck, boomer, and six are way hot. that always helps. and i'm kinda waiting for the argument between six and baltar...
baltar: you've been haunting me!
six: no, you've been haunting me!
baltar: no, you've been haunting me!
six: NO! YOU'VE been haunting ME!
~ my imagination
come on, you know you can so see them doing that. it's not like they're not petty. oh, but of course they'll still go at it like bunnies in heat. he had sex with her apparition, i can't imagine him not screwing her once she's actually there in the flesh.
and this insanity is why i must watch the new season. i don't think i can wait for it to come out on dvd. i'll die without my fix.
are you a morning person or a night owl?
im such a night owl. it's so difficult to get me to go to bed. i usually end up being my most productive at night. when i was a computer science major, i did most of my programming at night on into the morning. i'm a slave to caffeine and my computer. i've always been a night owl ever since i can remember, though. even before my computer addiction.
it's so difficult to get me out of bed in the morning. i'm always so tired, and i just wanna curl back up and fall asleep. i'm very lethargic and often cranky in the morning. you don't want to be the person waking me up.
what is your favorite children's movie?
i really love the last unicorn. that's one of the best cartoons ever.
i also really love disney's beauty and the beast, the little mermaid, the lion king, and the black cauldron.
no one seems to really remember the black cauldron. it's a good movie, and i love the book series it's based on. it's also interesting because it's the only disney cartoon i know of that contains no singing. also, they show blood. crazy, huh?
what's your favorite way to keep in touch? phone, snail mail, email, text message, vox, ____?
i like to talk to friends over the phone, but it's hard to make time for that. so really my favorite ways are email and blogs. of course, most of my friends are too lazy to email me back, comment in my blog, or keep their own blog... *grumbles*
so, the other day my writing for the web instructor assigned us two chapters out of prioritizing web usability. well, today i finished reading the entire book. it was that good. it had a lot of good tips and helpful information. i'm going to apply a lot of what's in that book to websites i create in the future.
there was stuff in there that i'd never thought about before but now seems like it should've been obvious. like, i hate making visited links a different color. i think it's ugly design-wise. but, for the users, it can be very important. people forget quickly where they've been, so if a link doesn't change color, they may visit it more than once by mistake. and, after reading this, i visited a site where i had just such a problem.
milky (warning: adult site) releases a lot of hentai dvd's. i can't read much japanese, so it was really helpful that their site had thumbnails of the dvd covers on the listings pages. but, now those pages have been redesigned. the images are gone and visited links don't change color.
i kept visiting pages more than once by accident and finally got fed up. god, i miss those thumbnails. i need to figure out how to write "stop screwing up your website and go back to the old line-up pages" in japanese.
anyway, prioritizing web usability is a good book. if you're at all interested in creating web sites or writing for the web, check it out.
are there any snacks, food or candy that are no longer made that you desperately miss?
i really miss mountain dew livewire. i love orange soda, and theirs was the best because it contained caffeine. i kept waiting this summer to see it hit the market again, 'cause it was around for a long time before disappearing, and it was a summer thing for a few years. so i had really hoped i'd see it this summer. but no such luck.
i really miss it. mountain dew, where's my livewire? (T_T)
*withholds comment* hehe... read more
on this is when i'm at my best
